Courtyard Arts is delighted to present Rising Rooted, a joint exhibition by Hertford‑based artists Claire Louise Carey and Kellie Ahl. Bringing together two distinct yet connected artistic voices, the exhibition explores colour, texture, emotion and the grounding power of place.

Their personal lives—the challenges, successes, losses and discoveries—are woven through their work. In their own words:

“For us, there is no clear separation between woman, artist, art and life. Each informs and shapes the other; making art is a way of thinking, feeling, processing and understanding what it means to be alive.”

Both artists also share a strong connection to nature:

“We find comfort, guidance and wisdom in the natural world. Through this relationship, we have come to recognise something ancient and powerful within it; an embodiment of the feminine principle, and perhaps an answer to what is missing in our world.”
