My English Persian Kitchen is a life-affirming play that follows one woman's journey of remembering the tastes and aromas of her mother's kitchen, recreating the dishes of her childhood and homeland through live cooking on stage. Building a new life and community around food, the story explores themes of memory, belonging, and starting again.
Written by award-winning playwright Hannah Khalil, based on a story by Atoosa Sepehr, the play was first performed at the Traverse Theatre as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, produced by Soho Theatre and Traverse Theatre.
The Guardian praised it as 'a thoroughly flavourful feast of a play that transports its audiences, through its aromatic delights, into an Iranian kitchen' ★★★★
