Written and performed by Christopher Brett Bailey, I Saw Satan at the 7-Eleven follows a nameless deadbeat narrator who, two miles north of Hell, spots Satan buying soy milk at his local 7-Eleven. Satan is a washed-up has-been who has completely lost his edge — until he falls in love with the narrator and the two set off on a debauched misadventure that is by turns slapstick, violent, whimsical, dreamlike and tender.
The Guardian calls it a performance where "no one tells a story like Christopher Brett Bailey" (★★★★), while Time Out describes it as a "joyously lurid gonzo monologue" (★★★★). A Young(ish) Perspective awards it five stars, hailing Bailey as "a virtuoso storyteller".
