Ska, Rocksteady & Reggae Double Bill featuring Trojan Horses and The SGs.
Trojan Horses are an eight (sometimes nine) piece ska and rocksteady band from Hertfordshire. The group has built a growing following since appearing on the Herts music scene almost a decade ago, playing a mix of classic Jamaican tunes from the 1960s and 70s alongside a number of originals. Influences include Phyllis Dillon, The Heptones, Dandy Livingstone, Toots & The Maytals and Alton Ellis.
The SGs have been delivering a rich mix of danceable and uplifting reggae for the past few years, playing mostly original material with a few sweetly interpreted covers thrown in. The band bring the traditional reggae emphasis on social awareness, love, joy and struggle to their sets, and have performed at festivals including Balstock, Strawberry Fair, Sandon Fields and Maidstone Ska Festival, as well as pubs and clubs across the region. They have also supported Lee 'Scratch' Perry, Gentleman's Dub Club, The Dualers, The Marley Experience and Jah Wobble. Expect roots reggae stylings with a sprinkling of ska and rocksteady, an infusion of lovers rock, melodic rhythms, heartfelt lyrics and powerful vocals.
