Sister Queens

Sister Queens traces the intertwined lives of two of history's most formidable rulers — Elizabeth I of England and Mary Queen of Scots. Written and performed by Miriam Cooper, this one-woman play moves through prison cells and royal courts, private chambers and public processions, bringing to life the passion and treachery that defined the relationship between two cousins who called themselves Sister Queens.

The play charts the unavoidable collision between these dynamic sovereigns, whose rivalry and complex bond shaped the destiny of both the Scottish and English thrones. At its heart lies a question that has captivated imaginations for centuries: was the death of one the only answer?

Miriam Cooper switches skilfully between both queens throughout the performance, drawing on her talents as both writer and actor. The production is produced by Aiden Dooley.
