Simulation Muse and The Runaway Killers have roots going back to 2014, when they performed together as ProtoStereo, a cover band widely regarded as one of the highest quality acts on the live entertainment circuit. Their powerful renditions of modern rock hits from the last two decades quickly drew attention, along with an uncanny likeness to two particular bands.

In 2016, they launched a double tribute dedicated to Muse and The Killers, taking the show to festivals, theatres and venues across the country. In 2019, the two tributes went their separate ways, giving birth to the individual acts known today as Simulation Muse and The Runaway Killers.
