Kurdish Music and Poetry
by St Andrew's ChurchFriends Meeting House23 Nov 2025

'We need stories to understand each other'
Amir and Suna will weave poetry, music and stories of love, exile and belonging to create an evocative afternoon that celebrates the beauty and resilience of shared human experience.
British Syrian poet and writer Amir Darwish, of Kurdish origin, who appeared at Ware Poets earlier in the year and has performed widely at international literary festivals, will be performing his work alongside Kurdish Alevi singer and storyteller Suna Alan, a London-based artist known for her performances of traditional Kurdish folk songs and her appearance at TEDx Kings Parade St in Cambridge.
Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to ask questions and hear more from Amir about his life in Syria and the UK.
