Exhibition on Screen: Frida Kahlo

Who was Frida Kahlo? Everyone knows her face, but who was the woman behind the bright colours, the bold brows and the floral crowns? This documentary film takes a journey through the life of a true icon, exploring her art and uncovering the story of her rebellious, passionate and turbulent life.

Making use of high-definition filming technology, the film offers an in-depth look at key works throughout Kahlo's career. Letters she wrote serve as a guide, revealing her deepest emotions and unlocking the secrets and symbolism contained within her paintings.

The film features interviews with world experts and people who knew Kahlo personally, alongside detailed commentary and exploration of her work. It also includes new bonus footage connected to the 2026 Tate Britain and MFA Houston exhibition, created in close collaboration with the show's curators.

Viewers are given privileged access to her works, her home and her studio, with the film highlighting the sources of her creativity, her resilience and her passion for life, beauty and revolution.
